Quick Summary

Quick Answer

The first days after the Patch 15 leaderboard reset confirm a much tighter rating distribution. Single Hero is currently concentrated around 1400–1600 MMR, Classic around 1100–1500+, while Arena has already produced the first 2000+ MMR player.

Early faction data also shows an interesting split: dungeon is the most-picked faction overall, while top players select schism considerably more often than the rest of the ladder.

Patch 15 reset every Olden Era ranked leaderboard and moved players back into a much more compressed rating environment.

Tip

That matches what lead game designer GrostX previously suggested on the official Discord: the new system should make extreme ratings considerably harder to reach than during the pre-reset season.

The first data already shows the difference.

Single Hero: Ratings Are Much Tighter

Most of the Single Hero Top 200 currently sits between roughly 1400 and 1600 MMR. Only the upper part of the leaderboard has moved into the 1600–1900 range.

This is a major change from the previous system, where established players could accumulate enormous rating advantages.

Tip

During Early Access pre-season Kolento, for example, remained around the Top 10 with approximately 4500 MMR even after more than two months without playing.

The new ladder currently rewards activity much more visibly.

The best players have already played roughly three times as many matches as most of the leaderboard:

PlayerRecord W-L
Rank #1 X33–8
Rank #2 Feeder (aka RitoSux)29–4
Rank #3 COLGREAVANCE31–5

Top players are averaging around 30 games each, compared with roughly 10 games for much of the remaining field.

The new match history data now includes the factions used by both players, allowing TownPortal to track the early Patch 15 faction meta directly.

Interestingly, the preferences of pickrate of elite players and the wider ladder are relatively similar.

Faction pick rateElite PlayersOther Players
Dungeon~22%~25%
Temple~19%~22%
Schism~18%~13%
Necropolis~14%~11%
Grove~13%~18%
Hive~13%~9%

dungeon is currently the most popular faction, making up roughly one quarter of regular-player picks.

Tip

One likely reason is bans. schism spent much of the previous meta with an S-tier reputation, and lower-rated players appear more willing to remove it before the game even begins.

grove shows almost the opposite pattern: around 18% of regular-player picks, but only 13% among elite players.

What Is the Best Faction After the Ladder Reset?

It is still too early to build a reliable faction tier list from raw win rates alone.

Important

Around 80% of tracked post-reset matches involving last season's 3000+ MMR players have been played against players outside that former elite group.

The result is effectively a large amount of pubstomping.

Elite players currently maintain roughly 72–80% win rates across almost every faction, with early outliers around:

  • hive — 66% WR
  • necropolis — 83% WR

Regular players remain much closer to an expected balanced range of approximately 46–52%, with hive around 42% and necropolis around 59% in the current sample.

That means a faction showing 75% win rate in elite hands does not automatically make it the best faction. At this stage, player strength remains a much stronger factor than faction choice.

Tip

TownPortal is separating these populations specifically to avoid turning matchmaking differences into misleading faction rankings.

Classic: Few Players Are Driving the Top of the Ladder

Classic currently has an unusually concentrated competitive population.

Important

The Top 20 players have already played more matches combined than the other 180 players in the Top 200.

As a result, the rating requirements are very different depending on the target:

  • around 1100+ MMR can already be enough for the Top 200;
  • roughly 1500+ MMR is required to reach the Top 20.

Current leaders include:

PlayerRecord W-L
Rank #1 PINOKEW15–0
Rank #2 PODPIVKOVICH19–3
Rank #3 SSCAISS17–3

Two successful calibrating games can still put a player surprisingly high on the Classic leaderboard, while the most active players are already creating separation at the top.

Tip

It is a right time to get back to playing Classic game mode and held your top-200 spot!

Arena Produces the First 2000+ Rating Player

Arena has started the new season much faster.

Players near the leaderboard are already averaging 30+ matches, making the Top 200 considerably more competitive than Classic.

Most Arena ratings currently cluster around 1300–1600 MMR, while reaching the very top requires approximately 1700+.

And Arena has already produced the first player above 2000 MMR the SOLISORA! Let's look at the top of a leaderboard:

PlayerRecord W-L
Rank #1 SOLISORA31–6
Rank #2 鬼冀大法师75–51
Rank #3 FOKYSNIK64–33

New Patch 15 Meta Statistics Are Coming

Patch 15 gives us access to much richer match information than before.

TownPortal can now combine:

  • faction picks;
  • faction bans;
  • hero picks and bans;
  • player skill level;
  • historical pre-reset rating;
  • match results;
  • changing meta trends.

Our upcoming interactive meta section will use this data to answer questions such as what are the best factions, what do top players pick, how faction win rates change by skill level, and how the Patch 15 meta develops over time.

More details will follow soon.

For players who want live information while playing, the TownPortal Overlay already provides real-time statistics for factions, heroes, and map templates.
