Quick Summary
Papyjama, the new Level Designer at Unfrozen and creator of The Mysterious Island, has opened a community questionnaire asking Olden Era players to share their thoughts on future PvE maps.
This is a great community moment for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. Papyjama was originally known as a fan creator, later joined the developer team, and is now directly asking players what kind of PvE maps, scenarios, and classic map experiences they want to see in the future.
From Community Fan to Olden Era Level Designer
We recently covered Papyjama’s story in our article: From Fan to Designer: Why Papyjama’s Olden Era Interview Feels Special.
That story now has a new chapter.
Papyjama is not just joining the team quietly behind the scenes. He is already reaching out to the community and asking players what they love about PvE maps: classic maps, custom scenarios, memorable layouts, map size, pacing, replayability, story, and the small design choices that make a map stay in your memory.
Why This Questionnaire Matters
PvE maps are a huge part of the Heroes-like experience. Most of veteran players used to learn HoMM series from PVE scenarios and maps exclusively!
For many players, a great map is not just a battlefield. It is an adventure: strange routes, dangerous guards, hidden rewards, tough choices, memorable objectives, and that feeling of slowly discovering the world one turn at a time.
It is a chance for the community to shape what kind of PvE experiences Olden Era should prioritize.
Big Kudos for Active Community Listening
It is easy for developers to say they listen. It is much more meaningful when someone from the team shows up, explains what they are working on, and asks players specific questions before future content is finalized.
This is exactly the kind of communication that can make Olden Era stronger over time.
Papyjama’s background makes it feel even better. He understands the fan side of the community because he came from it himself. Now, as a level designer, he is in a position to turn that community knowledge into actual maps and scenarios.
