Olden Era Patch #10: Tactics Phase Formation Saving and Bug Fixes

Olden Era Patch #10 adds saved tactics phase formations, improves unit movement feedback, fixes tournament and UI bugs, and temporarily nerfs Avatar scaling.

Patch #10 for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is a smaller quality-of-life and bug-fix update, but it adds one very useful feature for everyday play: unit formations selected during the tactics phase are now saved between battles.

This means less repetitive setup before neutral fights and a smoother early-game clearing experience, especially for players who rely on consistent unit positioning.

The patch also fixes several tournament template issues, UI bugs, tooltip errors, campaign autobattle problems, and a few rare but serious multiplayer-related edge cases.

What Changed in Patch #10?

Units formation now saved between battles

After arranging your army during the tactics phase, the game will now remember that formation for future standard battles against neutral enemies.

There are some important limitations:

  • formations are saved separately for each hero;
  • saving applies only to standard battles against neutral enemies;
  • battles for objects and battles against other players still use default positions;
  • formations are saved when the tactics phase ends;
  • if a unit cannot be placed in its saved position because of battlefield obstacles, it returns to its default position;
  • saved placement follows the order of army slots.

Nerf to Summon Avatar Skill by 40%

Avatar damage scaling from hero Spell Power was reduced:

  • before: 12–12 / 16–16 / 20–20 per Spell Power;
  • now: 12–12 / 12–12 / 12–12 per Spell Power.

Meta Impact

Patch #10 does not heavily change the overall faction meta

  • Game tempo not affected

Bug Fixes

Patch #10 also focuses heavily on bug fixing.

Notable fixes include:

  • UI errors after loading previously started Hotseat games;
  • lobby timer sometimes displaying “00”;
  • old campaign profile progress carrying over to a new profile in the same slot;
  • tournament template bugs where last-second actions could duplicate or remove creatures;
  • a rare issue where attacking neutral stacks at the last second before a tournament battle could lock interaction with that stack;
  • rare AI freezing during its turn;
  • a serious simultaneous-turn issue related to adventure map spells;
  • incorrect tooltip values for Necromancy’s “Eternal Service” sub-skill;
  • missing tooltip information after researching the “Elite Liches” law;
  • “Ambassador’s Word” set effect not triggering;
  • accidental connection loss window behavior in a specific Pit of Glory / garrison interaction;
  • scroll tooltip display issues;
  • autobattle not working against objects guarded by a garrison in campaign mode.
