Quick Summary
Skayne earned his place among the 16 players invited to the Exodus and Outcast Invitational - and immediately proved that he belonged on that stage.
He won the opening Exodus game against Kolento and pushed the series to a deciding third map. Beyond competing himself, Skayne has also helped viewers follow the event through his tournament streams.
In this Invitational Voices interview, he discusses Hive’s resurgence, Outcast Tournament, difficult RNG, the players who impressed him most, and why Magic heroes currently have almost no downside:
“With the recent buffs to Sorcery and Thaumaturgy, Magic doesn’t really have a drawback anymore.”
Skayne’s history with Heroes stretches across almost the entire series.
His first memorable faction was Might in Heroes IV, where Thunderbirds and Cyclopes captured his imagination as a child. Since then, he has played nearly every Heroes title and developed into both a competitive player and a recognizable voice in the Olden Era community.
Skayne was one of only 16 players invited to the Exodus and Outcast Invitational. His opening-stage opponent was Kolento, one of the most recognizable names in the field.
Skayne made an immediate statement by winning the first Exodus game with khariseth - hive. Kolento recovered to win the Outcast map and the deciding Exodus game, but Skayne forced the series all the way to a third match and produced one of the closest opening-stage battles.
His contribution to the tournament has not been limited to playing. Skayne has also helped viewers follow competitive Olden Era through his tournament streams.
That combination of playing and observing gives Skayne an interesting perspective on the tournament. He highlights Lexiav’s ability to recover from difficult positions, places Ordulops above much of the field, and explains why better spectator tools could be essential for the future of the competitive scene.

The answers have been lightly edited for grammar and clarity while preserving Skayne’s original meaning and style.
From Heroes IV to Olden Era
Q1. How long have you been playing Heroes, and which faction did you play first?
I’ve played every Heroes game except Heroes I and II.
I also played a little of Heroes VI and VII, but not much.
The first faction I ever played was Might in Heroes IV. I loved the Thunderbirds and Cyclopes as a kid.
Q2. Which faction performance impressed you the most during the tournament, and which was the biggest disappointment?
hive impressed me the most.
It’s nice to see the faction at its best after a rough start with the game.
The biggest disappointment would probably be Necropolis on Jebus Tournament. I’m confident that it has a negative win rate on that template.
Q3. How did you like the Outcast Tournament template? Would you like to play more of it?
The template is fun and short.
I definitely want more of it.
Q4. Did you prepare specifically for your opponents, or did you approach the matches like regular ladder games?
Not really.
My preparation was mainly watching games and playing a little single-player, where I was mostly trying some very sketchy fights.
Q5. Which players have impressed you the most during the tournament?
Lexiav, for sure.
He has made a lot of comebacks and has been the most consistent player overall.
Ordulops would be second. The way he plays is definitely a level above most of the other players at the moment.
Q6. Which player did you fear facing the most?
Most likely Ordulops.
Q7. Which game moment impressed you the most during the tournament?
Lexiav’s amazing build-out into Tier 7.
It saved his game after a very, very rough start with zero dwellings.
Q8. What is your prediction for the grand final?
Most likely Ordulops versus Rito.
Editor's note: Rito aka Feeder or RitoSux
Q9. How much did GAMBA affect your games?
If by GAMBA you mean RNG, then it affected the games a lot.
An opponent spawning with six of the best dwellings while I have only one Tier 2 dwelling feels pretty bad.
Then there was the Jebus Tournament incident, where I got no Loga and impossible guards for the setup I chose to play.
Q10. Who is stronger in the current meta: Might or Magic heroes?
Definitely Magic.
With the recent buffs to Sorcery and Thaumaturgy, Magic doesn’t really have a drawback anymore.
Q11. How do you expect the competitive scene to look by the end of the year?
A lot more fleshed out, for sure - with spectator mode and more features.
Funny enough, spectator mode is already in the game. It just doesn’t fully work yet.
Big Kudos to Skayne
Skayne did much more than simply fill one of the 16 places in the Invitational.
He opened his series against Kolento with a victory, forced the matchup into a decisive third game, and showed that he could challenge one of the most experienced players in the tournament.
He has also continued contributing to competitive Olden Era as a streamer - watching the field closely, highlighting impressive performances, and helping more viewers follow the developing scene.
His answers reveal someone who is not afraid to experiment with difficult fights, recognizes great play from his competitors, and understands that a healthy competitive game needs more than balance patches. It also needs reliable tools for viewers, broadcasters, and tournament organizers.
Big kudos to Skayne for earning his place among the Invitational’s top 16, delivering a competitive series, and helping bring more attention to Olden Era’s players and tournaments.
More interviews with Invitational participants will be published throughout the playoffs as part of TownPortal’s Invitational Voices series.
