Quick Summary
Hive is widely seen as one of the weakest factions in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. Because of that, many players avoid it on the PvP ladder - and that creates a strange problem: if almost nobody plays Hive, there is not enough data to prove whether the faction is truly bad or simply underexplored.
That is why streams like Turin’s “RUSTY PVP LADDER! HIVE MINDED!” are interesting. They are not just regular ladder sessions. They are part of a small community challenge: can strong players make even the least popular faction work?

Why This Stream Matters
The Hive problem is partly a balance question and partly a data problem.
If a faction is unpopular, its winrate becomes harder to trust. Low pick rate means fewer matches, fewer strong players testing it seriously, and fewer examples of optimized play. As a result, the community can get stuck in a loop: players think Hive is weak, so they do not pick Hive, so Hive never gets enough ladder data to challenge that opinion.
Turin’s stream fits into the opposite trend: top and high-level players trying to test unpopular factions directly on ladder.
