Olden Era Tier List - Best Tier-1 Creatures Ranked

This is a generalized ranking suitable for a wide range of players. Some creatures can become much stronger as situational picks or specific counters in high-level competitive games, and we will mention those cases where relevant.

Best Tier-1 Creatures Explained

S Tier

• stinging-rashoth - This is close to a must-pick on Day 1 when playing schism. Finding a creature dwelling can immediately create one of the strongest early snowballs in the game. Stinging Rashoths are ranged, deal an excellent 3–3 damage, can fly, and can summon fallen units that remain after combat. They scale naturally into a real power stack for the first, second, and even third finalka. Bringing 500+ of them into a late PvP battle is entirely realistic.

• skeleton-archer - Skeleton Archers earn S-tier because they are ranged, easy to accumulate from Day 1, and benefit from very high weekly growth. They are also excellent when split into x1 stacks to generate Focus for the necromancy Reanimate Dead ability, helping necropolis clear difficult objects while minimizing army losses. They are useful both as a growing damage stack and as part of Necropolis' core sustain engine.

• infernal-troglodyte - With 6 Initiative and an ability that increases damage received by the attacked enemy stack by 20%, Infernal Troglodytes are one of the strongest Tier-1 creatures in the game. Combined with Tier-1 Law talents and high weekly growth, they can become a genuine power stack after Week 1. Their high Initiative also makes it much easier to outmaneuver neutral armies and avoid unnecessary bleeding, which is critical for early-game tempo.

• faun-warrior - This stack truly comes online from Week 2. Week 1 is usually about carefully protecting your faun until you can upgrade them into faun-warrior and acquire expert tactics to reset counterattack when killine enemy, both of which are extremely important for the build. Once everything is in place, Faun Warriors can start one-shotting many neutral stacks and become one of Grove's main power stacks for mid-game and finalka fights.

A Tier

• faun - A strong and straightforward choice when playing grove. Fauns are ranged and have Parry, allowing them to counterattack before taking the incoming hit. This can prevent early bleeding and makes it much easier to preserve the stack until it can eventually be upgraded into the S-tier faun-warrior.

• suns-aegis - Their passive ability reduces ranged damage taken by adjacent friendly units by 30%, making them a genuine defensive anchor for important temple stacks such as austringer and lightweaver. Even several x1 Suns Aegis stacks, positioned correctly, can dramatically reduce incoming ranged damage in finalka fights. On the map, they are especially useful against ranged neutrals and are rarely used as the main damage stack. Instead, you normally split several of them to protect your army while another stack, often guard-captain, handles the damage. Their utility is too consistent to call them merely situational, which earns them A-tier.

• troglodyte - A Long Reach unit that often starts in a large enough stack to act as an immediate one-shot tool against many neutral armies and map objects. It requires almost no additional investment and gives dungeon exactly what it needs early: reliable damage and tempo.

• skeleton-warrior - Skeleton Warriors are rarely the preferred option during the early stages of the game, but they become a very common choice for finalka. Their enormous weekly growth allows necropolis to accumulate hundreds of them and transform the stack into a serious late-game threat. That scaling is one of the reasons Necropolis is so often considered an S-tier faction overall.

B Tier

• faun-archer - Unfortunately, this upgrade can actually be less desirable than the base faun. The main reason is efficiency: instead of spending gold on Faun Archers, you can keep the base stack through Week 1, wait for the required hero skills, and then move directly toward faun-warrior. Faun Archers do not improve neutral-clearing power enough to justify the intermediate investment in most builds.

• ferocious-rashoth - This is a fast creature with 6 Speed, 6 Initiative, and an AoE attack. However, its melee damage profile makes it significantly less reliable than the ranged S-tier alternative, stinging-rashoth. Ferocious Rashoths are sometimes selected for the third finalka, but they commonly skip the first two major PvP battles and rarely realize the full potential of their AoE attack. More often, they absorb one enemy turn and function as an off-stack rather than a true power stack. That keeps them firmly in B-tier, especially compared with creatures such as skeleton-warrior, which can usually be accumulated in much larger numbers.

• guard-captain - The problem starts with the base swordsman, which is often used as a trading stack and sacrificed to reduce army bleeding in neutral fights. As a result, temple frequently cannot preserve enough of them to create a truly threatening Guard Captain stack later. Even the double-attack ability is rarely enough to turn them into a primary power stack. temple usually revolves around protecting the Tier-2 ranged austringer, which limits how important Guard Captains can become in the overall army.

• ravager-parasite - 6 Initiative, Long Reach, and the ability to generate additional Focus Points are all valuable for hive. Higher Initiative reduces army losses, while additional Focus helps summon fire-larva earlier. The problem is that Ravager Parasites rarely become a true power stack and usually lack the damage required to one-shot important enemies. In practice, the upgrade often feels like a relatively cheap way to gain 6 Initiative rather than an essential strategic choice. Its role is very similar to faun-archer.

• swordsman - There is nothing particularly special here unless you are playing john_johnson. Swordsmen are inexpensive and have a respectable

C Tier

• skeleton - Skeletons are almost never the key stack in a Necropolis army. If you still see them in large numbers, the build is often centered around a wight power stack instead. In that situation, Skeletons are usually upgraded into skeleton-archer, where they gain much more value by generating Focus for Reanimate Dead.

• rashoth - The current meta strongly favors upgrading these into stinging-rashoth. The base version also has an awkward downside: neutral AI can frequently prioritize Rashoths as attack targets, causing you to bleed a stack that you ultimately want to preserve and convert into ranged units. Their main purpose is therefore to survive until the upgrade becomes available.

• toxic-troglodyte - Their passive ability allowing two counterattacks is difficult to exploit efficiently in the current meta. Taking two hits is usually too expensive when trying to minimize bleeding against neutral armies and map objects. Their additional mechanic, increasing damage by 25% after being attacked, is also awkward to activate consistently. infernal-troglodyte is much easier to use because it can directly choose which enemy stack receives increased damage instead of waiting for the opponent to trigger the effect.

• warden-parasite - Rarely selected because its 5 Initiative compares poorly with the 6 Initiative of ravager-parasite. In most situations, it feels like an alternative without a strong reason to choose it. The ability to generate two Focus Charges when a stack dies can theoretically enable additional fire-larva summons, but this requires relying on AI targeting your x1 stacks, making the strategy too inconsistent for a higher tier.

F Tier

There are no creatures here, and that is a good thing. In general, there are no Tier-1 creatures that should be deliberately ignored or completely avoided in your army. Even the weaker options can provide useful bodies, utility, or situational value.

How to Use This Tier List

Use this tier list as a starting point, not as a strict rule.

For competitive Multiplayer games, the safest Creature picks are the ones that can do three things immediately after you acquire them:

1. clear the map efficiently;
2. break into richer zones without losing too much army;
3. remain relevant in the final PvP battle.
