Temple Heroes Tier List for Olden Era Patch 13

Remember that this is a generalized ranking. Draft phase, map template, player skill, faction matchup, and comfort with specific strategies can all change the value of a hero.

Temple Heroes Explained

S Tier

• ister - Ister's movement-focused specialty is valuable throughout the entire game. Extra mobility improves scouting by a margin of 30-50% on top of second-wind usage. With this hero you will never lack a movement points and can reach Desert portal zones, The White Growth Tree, Creature Dwellings and Biome attribute objects granting you more than +10% in power on finalka.

• kestrel - Kestrel's crossbowman specialty gives Temple excellent early tempo, strong zone break potential, and notable final battle power. Increased initiative helps Crossbowmen deal damage before neutral stacks can respond, significantly reducing army losses. Once the first relevant Law upgrades are unlocked, they become particularly effective against neutral armies. The current meta places significant value on initiative and Wait-based combat tactics, which makes this specialty even stronger.

A Tier

• old_lord_mandall - Lord Mandall unlocks a unique Heroic Strike-focused playstyle. With this hero, combat becomes an important source of damage against difficult T6 and T7 neutral armies and valuable map objects. Around levels 5–7, Mandall can clear many difficult fights by using 7x1 army stacks correctly. Unlike some Grove Heroic Strike strategies, however, the specialty is less likely to become a game-changing factor in the final PvP battle. His exceptional map-clearing potential still earns him a strong A-tier position.

• keandra - Keandra's cavalry specialty gives Temple an excellent frontline for early and mid-game fights while crossbowman stacks deal damage and generate Focus Points from safety. Cavalry also has 10 Initiative, which is extremely valuable in the current combat meta. For comparison, reaver reaches 11 Initiative, while many comparable Tier 5–6 units from other factions sit considerably lower. The specialty requires careful army management, however: with only 85 HP, Cavalry stacks are valuable but not especially difficult to lose.

• aeos_the_exalted - Aeos specializes in Morale and has excellent synergy with Temple Laws that can push Morale activation chances above 50%. Extra turns can completely change difficult neutral fights and final PvP battles, making this one of Temple's most distinctive playstyles. There is still an RNG element involved, but the specialty has virtually no direct downside: every successful Morale trigger simply creates another opportunity to act.

• pip - Pip does not provide the strongest earliest tempo, but the hero has excellent mid-game and huge late-game potential. XP-based heroes are commonly rated from S to A tier across many factions and patches because faster leveling can improve every part of your game plan: scouting, fights, skill access, and final battle strength.

B Tier

• zenith - Zenith's lightweaver specialty provides an additional ranged stack from the beginning of the game, improving early tempo and zone break potential. Lightweavers are also the game's only Tier 4 ranged unit and remain relatively inexpensive, allowing them to develop into a meaningful power stack for the final battle. Compared with stronger higher-tier creature specialties, however, Zenith loses some value as the game progresses and settles into a solid B-tier position.

• lia_the_untethered_one - Light Magic is a useful specialty for temple, especially because the faction already has several ways to stack positive effects through units such as angel and lightweaver. Access to inner-light can also combine with Temple mechanics to counter enemy negative effects. Lia has no major weakness, but the value is situational and does not provide the consistent tempo of the strongest Temple heroes.

• lord_edgar - Lord Edgar has a simple specialization that grants additional Attack and Defense based on the hero's attributes. The problem is timing: during the early game, those attributes are usually too low for the bonus to provide a meaningful advantage. This leaves Edgar with limited impact during the stage where tempo matters most. The specialty scales reasonably well and has no major downside, but in the current aggressive meta it remains a B-tier option.

• merry_elias - Merry Elias is a highly situational hero that requires careful execution and a strong focus on Astrology and the Mage Guild. Top ladder player EASY2 previously demonstrated impressive results with the hero, and Merry Elias was briefly considered an A-tier option by parts of the community. That position has not held over time. The hero can still farm creature dwellings efficiently with reinforcements and benefits from an increased Mana Pool, but these advantages require specific circumstances and planning to outperform more reliable Temple choices.

C Tier

• john_johnson, julius, leon_sticky_fingers, nadir, vesper

These heroes are not unplayable, but they are usually less efficient in the current Patch 13 meta, and we are still missing significant sample sizes. They can still work in specific matchups, drafts, or comfort-based strategies, but they are harder to recommend as default Temple picks.

F Tier

• heretic_avis, clarissa - Economy-focused heroes are among the least impactful options in the current meta. Their bonuses usually do not provide enough early tempo, zone break potential, or final battle power to compete with stronger combat-oriented specialties. Current map templates also contain plenty of free resources, Pandora's Boxes, and rewarding neutral fights, reducing the relative value of slower economy scaling.

• anastasia_the_meek - Anastasia's masterful-arinas-touch specialty has not found a clear role in the current meta. Temple strategies currently value creature initiative more than additional movement speed, while the spell's high Mana cost makes repeated casting difficult. The extra HP can occasionally help with difficult neutral fights, but the setup is too expensive and situational compared with the faction's stronger hero options.

How to Use This Tier List

Use this tier list as a starting point, not as a strict rule.

If you are new to Temple, start with S-tier or A-tier heroes because their strengths are easier to convert into real map tempo. If you are more experienced, some lower-tier heroes can still work as comfort picks, draft surprises, or matchup-specific choices.

For competitive Single Hero games, the safest Temple picks are the ones that can do three things well:

1. clear the map efficiently;
2. break into richer zones without losing too much army;
3. remain relevant in the final PvP battle.
